I'm going to be featured in a Book!

Hello my dear readers,

Many of you may have noticed I often seem to drop of the face of the planet, nowhere to be seen, just the occasional random appearance and quick blog... I do have a habit of randomly disappearing and have done since probably longer than you can even remember... unless you just met me of course, you will just have to use your imagination there. Anyway, "you've just been busy Jen" I hear you say and yes, that's very true as I've been extremely busy and I'll share more about that later (my next blog - it's all very exciting at the moment!)... but maybe it's just one of those crazy little things that makes me, me. I have to go and recharge and process my often overly intense creative thoughts and give my brain a rest, you know that habit of me getting very excited and cramming my life full of ideas, projects, thoughts, friends and... stuff... so I'm fit to explode...?

Understanding ourselves and our eccentricities is part of the exhilarating journey of life and I have long been exploring astrology to gain an insight of who I am. My friend (and published author) Lisa Tenzin-Dolma has helped me to deepen my understanding by interpreting my Natal Chart in her fantastic new book, Teach Yourself Astrology.

If you are curious of what makes me tick, what motivates me, where my potential lies and are curious to know me in a deeper cosmic sense, your curiosity can be given some possible answers through the interpretation of my chart in this book. It's actually quite astonishing the information you can find. What kind of work you are suited to, what kind of man (that was very interesting! hehehehe) and it can even show your potential for success. Thankfully, the celestial forces haven blessed me with a Venus trine MC and a Jupiter sextile MC, which means great things for my career! WooHoo! :D

Anyway, I was absolutely delighted and flattered when Lisa asked if she could use my chart to demonstrate interpretations as a part of Teach Yourself Astrology. I am wondering if it was a particularly nice alignment of the planets that helped it along, or the fact that I had been delving deeply into my own chart looking for answers to help with my healing and life journey. I had been stuck on this little icon which looked like a key sat up in Aries in my eleventh house. It was quite strongly aspected with my Sun, Mercury, Saturn and Uranus and I wanted to unlock its secrets. I couldn't find much in my astrology books so I called my friend Lisa. I always call Lisa in these situations as she has a wondrous abundance of knowledge, and as usual she came through with flying colours and opened up a whole new meaning to my chart and a deeper understanding of myself.

The key, I discovered was Chiron, the wounded healer. With Lisa's coaching and additional reading of her previous astrology book "Understanding The Planetary Myths" I came to learn more about the psychology and deeper meaning; that Chiron reminds us that only through recognising and accepting our inner wounds can we find true healing. It was one of those Eureka moments. Maybe it was coincidence that Lisa had just been asked to write Teach Yourself Astrology while all this self-discovery was going on and she was just as fascinated with my chart as I was at that moment in time. Of course I leapt at the chance of Lisa delving even deeper into my cosmic closet for the book. The experience has left me a lot more confident about my potential in the film industry. I kind of always knew I was destined, but it's fantastic to find my potential and motivations in my chart, and how I can make it work for me and what I need to watch out for. I'm even looking forward to meeting my future man, a prospect I had previously found totally bewildering! (You'll understand why if you read the book)

Lisa has created an amazing book and if you have any interest in exploring yourself using the wisdom of my friend and the ancient art of astrology I highly recommend it (not that I'm bias or anything ;o) It's innovative presentation of astrology and its format allows you to understand, in a more practical way, your psychological make-up, how to make the most of your untapped potential and how to overcome your personal hang ups and demons.

Okay... okay... I'm just a little excited!! So excited that I had to share this glorious news, now it's become official. There is an official MySpace Page for the book and if you're very lucky the author Lisa Tenzin-Dolma will stop by and say hello. The book could be released anytime from September-November, but is currently available for pre ordering on Amazon. I'm sure I'll give you all a reminder when it's out! =)

My New Website

Yes! I have redesigned my website and changed my host and domain!

I have split my site into sections:

One side is for my professional pages, Résumé, Biography, Credits, Photo Gallery - all of which I've updated. I've also created some space ready for my new production company which is in the early days of formation (Mighty oaks from acorns grow).

My Favourite Movies

Hello dear friends,

While surfing I randomly found this site called Flixter and you can collect your favourite movies together and create things like this movie wall. It was so cool I just couldn't help myself and joined. It's just such a great feeling to see all my favourite movies together. I get that excited feeling in my belly. Is it just me, or do you feel like that too about your favourites? I love movies!!!!!!!! :D I think I may write another blog about why they are my favourites. Later - I'm supposed to be updating my new website! hahahaha Do you procrastinate too?

New Film Forum and Site Updates

As technology moves on and new trends and ideas arrive, I have decided to upgrade my old yahoo film group in a way that will encourage more interaction, but less clutter in your inbox. My solution? A forum! Discussions can now be more specific and deeper and the choice of which topics you wish read and discuss is up to you, rather than whatever arrives in your inbox as part of a circular. It also makes it much easier to promote yourself and share your news in the relevant categories. The yahoo film group will still function as normal and be available to all that want to stay in touch that way, but members who especially love to talk the hind legs of a donkey and yearn for a more in-depth discussion but not want to worry about overloading mailboxes can do so freely in the forum. I have set up several areas, including a professionals only area (I just learned how to make a forum private last week!) as well as area's dedicated to screenwriting, acting and independent film-making. Other specific areas can be set up on request. I hope it would then encourage a more specific dialogue between members allowing them to choose what subjects they want to get involved with as well as encouraging a larger membership base. Networking is one of the most important things in film-making.

Other new pages on my website are 'the screening room', which contains a list of links to the various online cinemas that are springing up all over the place. Now that pretty much anyone can make and distribute their own movies online - where does this leave the film industry in general? Another big update is my famous links page. Many more actors and directors are getting their own websites now and some seem to be quite involved with them. You can now ask many renowned actors and film-makers questions directly to them via their sites and you can find some real gems, such as Roger Moore explaining to a fan why he thinks the British film industry is failing to meet it's potential. I for one think he's got it exactly right. Even William Shatner has a Blog where you can read the delights of him selling his ex kidney stone for $75,000, with the proceeds going to Habitat for Humanity.

I intend to update my funding page next as the links seem to go out of date faster than any others!

My Mission Statement

Maybe I've been hanging around way too many Americans again, as I've just written myself a Mission Statement!

I'm all fired up, enthusiastic and raring to go - and to help keep me focused on what I want to achieve, I wrote myself a OTT, gushy, Oscar speechy and slightly poncey Mission Statement. It's great to actually put down my aspirations and share them with the world: "This is me, this is what I want to do, this is my philosophy" and I am hoping it's presence here on the net for all to see, will act like a cosmic ray, reaching out to likeminded film-makers on the planet. If it doesn't? I still have my plan to guide me and give me strength of purpose... A Mission. If it does? Bonus! I get some great company to make the journey of life more exciting and fun. It's a win-win situation!

MY MISSION STATEMENT
1. To write and produce entertaining films
2. To always aspire to be the best film-maker my abilities allow and to push the boundaries and strive for excellence in my work
3. To not let difficulties or obstacles deter my mission, but feed my inner strength and develop my problem solving skills.
4. To improve the lot and respect in the industry for writers
5. To encourage film makers to get the script right before pre-production begins and invest more time in script development and polishing.

To discourage bulls**t, egos, takers and users who don't want to pay or respect their cast and crew, those that suppress talent to bolster their insecurities/ego and those that just want to work in the film industry, more than they want to actually make films. (i.e. they want to work in the industry to 'meet famous people', show off and give their ego a boost rather than they have an actual interest in film-making and producing something amazing)

To be loyal to those that help me and to collect together the 'good guys' of the industry; those who's passion for film is bigger than their ego and self-interest, those who don't need to use bulls**t and can be honest and true to the film, those that can respect their fellow technicians as equals and inspire them to do their best work.
14. To seek out and encourage genuine talent, nurture it, help it grow and inspire others to reach for their potential
15. To enjoy the process and put the fun back in film-making and the passion back into the craft.

You may have noticed I've been absent a while and not so many items have been updated on the site as frequently as I would like and I haven't been fantastically fast in responding to my e-mail. I am also battling/recovering from an often debilitating, chronic neurological illness known as M.E./CFS, so it's slowed me down a bit - so apologies to all those waiting for updates and interaction. To counter this I have created a forum to make the site more interactive.

Jen's new Film-makers Forum!

The good news is I have been making a good recovery with the help of a very patient acupuncturist and an osteopath/naturopath. I have still some way to go, but the outlook is very bright. :) The M.E./CFS (Chronic Fatigue Syndrome) may have made achieving my ambitions more difficult, but it has not been able to stop me, as I am determined to overcome this challenging period in my life and turn it into a positive! (More news about that in my next blog.)

My first hope is that this will inspire others to not let difficulties and obstacles get in the way of achieving their dreams. My second hope is to highlight this much, maligned, denigrated and misunderstood illness, which affects an estimated 240,000 people in the UK - That's roughly 1 in 250 people! This figure is rising, creating serious economic implications for the UK, which is compounded by a scandalous lack of government research and NHS services for people with ME/CFS.
